L'O.S.P. Yamato possiede tre concavità frontali, un forma allungata della mascella inferiore e due occhielli. Questa forma strana caratterizza l'artificiale e lo predispone a tutte le azioni. Cosi è nato lo Yamato wtd, sviluppando e creando un pencil popper di una nuova categoria tra le esche OSP, che possegga varie modalità di utilizzo. In genere, i pencil popper hanno un corpo sottile e, tendenzialmente, la misura delle concavità è piccola. Grazie a ciò, le esche tradizionali hanno dei vantaggi in termini di movimento 'dog walk' e riproducono un suono di cacciata, ma hanno degli enormi svantaggi per ciò che riguarda la ricerca e l'attrazione dei pesci in aree vaste. Oltre a questo, lo Yamato estende l'area del suo movimento dalla superficie fino a strati d'acqua sottostanti, secondo la modalità d'uso. Der O.S.P. Yamato Jr. ist ein wahrer Zauberer unter den Topwaterbaits. OSP bezeichnet ihn als „Surface Multi Action Bait“, da er über zwei komplett unterschiedliche Laufverhalten verfügt. Wird der Yamato Jr. an seiner unteren Öse eingehängt, läuft er an der Oberfläche und erzeugt eine Ähnliche Aktion wie ein Popper. An der unteren Öse eingehängt, läuft er knapp unterhalb der Wasseroberfläche im Walk-The-Dog-Stil. Somit vereint der Yamato Jr. die Eigenschaften eines Swimbaits, eines Poppers und eines Pencilbaits.

Although Yamato Jr. is a stick bait that does not move by itself, you can handle lure action whatever you want without difficult rod operation.

O.S.P introduit un nouveau type de stickbait. Avec ses deux excroissances latérales, sa quille et ses deux œillets d'attache, le YAMATO n'a rien d'un leurre de surface classique.
